Don't Should On Your Kids: Build Their Mental Toughness (pt.1)

Yes, you read the title correctly.

People like to say that sports are 90% mental…not so sure about that.  We’ll discuss the main struggles our athletes face and the #1 way you, as parents, can help!  Think you should always come to your kids rescue?  Think again.  We have a better way to help you that may come as a surprise!

Our goal, as parents, should be to help our kids become more self-reliant.  Right now, you may be thinking, are you kidding?  My child wouldn’t get out the door in the morning if it weren’t for me constantly keeping him on track!  I feel your pain but good news, we have some solutions!

In this session, I’m talking to Dr. Rob Bell, a Mental Toughness Coach, who works with athletes, coaches and teams.  Dr. Bell co-wrote a book called, “Don’t Should on Your Kids: Build Their Mental Toughness”.

Listen as Dr Bell and I discuss mental toughness and what that means, how we can best help our kids when it comes to the struggles they face and how we can help them become independent. Then, check back in a couple weeks for the second part of this discussion, where we will be talking more about performance and mental toughness.
