The Blended Family (part 1)

Did you know that 40% of families in America today are step-families?

Some of the issues for blended families include:  Discipline, Finances, Communication, both parents being fully engaged and understanding the developmental stages of the child.

Wait a minute!  These sound like issues ALL families face. Very true. However, even though the issues are the same, these issues look very different with the complexity of a blended family. So, gaining insight is useful for all of us.

For example, how does a parent handle a teen saying, "You're not my REAL dad/mom!" Plenty of relational and communication issues to work through with that statement. And that's just one of the many complexities within a blended family.

In today's podcast, I'll discuss this topic with Rasool Berry, who is a Leadership Development Pastor, from Brooklyn, NY.  He has been there, done that, and he has ways to help you navigate your family situation. Plus, he'll give you the bottom line when it comes to parenting within the blended family structure. It's actually a great reminder for all families.
